How to Make STEM Content Accessible for Students With Visual Impairment?
If you’re teaching STEM subjects, you’re already aware of how heavily the content relies on visuals. Graphs, diagrams, equations, and models are all essential parts of explaining complex ideas. But for students with visual impairment, these same elements can become barriers to learning. That’s why accessibility needs to be part of your planning from the beginning.
How To Avoid ADA Lawsuits in Digital Education
If you’re involved in digital education, one thing you can’t afford to overlook is accessibility. Students with disabilities deserve the same access to content, tools, and learning experiences as everyone else. But when accessibility isn’t built into your online platforms and materials, it can open the door to legal trouble.
Creating an Accessible Syllabus for Higher Education
In higher education, the syllabus is often a student’s first interaction with a course. Designing it with accessibility in mind ensures that every learner, regardless of their background, learning style, or abilities, can easily understand and navigate the course structure. As education becomes more digital, it’s important to make sure your syllabus is clear, easy to navigate, and free of unnecessary hurdles.
Government Accessibility Regulations for Digital Documents | UK, US & EU
Government accessibility regulations are evolving rapidly across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Reviewing the Logic and Value of the W3C’s Accessibility Maturity Model
Recently, the Web Accessibility Initiative posted on LinkedIn asking for feedback on their Accessibility Maturity Model. While we will be submitting answers to the specific questions in their post, we’d like to also comment on a bigger question: Why does this Accessibility Maturity Model even exist, in the first place? There are strong sentiments that an accessibility maturity model makes no sense and that, instead, organizations should simply use a more mainstream framework like Six Sigma or CMMI.
DOJ Questioning the New Title II Web Regulation
This is a super-short post. Yesterday, the Department of Justice issued its “spring 2025” (I think they meant 2026) regulatory agenda to give the American public a heads up on the changes in regulations that it foresees for the next six months– and disability rights regulations were the only existing regulations on the administration’s list.
Kansas Is Leading the Way on Financial Empowerment for Foster Youth with Disabilities — Other States Should Follow
Each year, thousands of young Americans with disabilities age out of foster care and step into adulthood with little more than determination. Too often, they do so without the financial tools or education needed to build independence and stability. It is estimated that 25% of youth who had been in foster care at age 17 and surveyed at age 21 said that they had been homeless at some point in the last two years. Foster youth also frequently struggle with credit issues, debt, and a lack of financial education, according to the National Foster Youth Institute.
For Review: WCAG 3 Working Draft – September 2025
W3C Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 3.0 Working Draft is updated. For review questions and how to comment, please see the WCAG 3 section ‘About this draft’. The starting place for background, timeline, and up-to-date information is the WCAG 3 Introduction.
What Brands Overlook About Web Accessibility (and Why It’s Costly)
In today’s digital-first world, a website is far more than a marketing tool—it’s a gateway for customers, clients, and employees. Yet, many brands still overlook a critical component of user experience: web accessibility. While organizations invest heavily in design, functionality, and content, accessibility often remains an afterthought, creating both reputational and financial risks.
Commission confirms update to Disability Rights Strategy in 2026
The European Commission’s 2026 work plan confirms that new actions will be added to the European Disability Rights Strategy 2021-2030! We welcome this announcement, which reflects our long-standing demands and provides a clear timeline for action. It follows a commitment made by Commissioner for Equality Hadja Lahbib to the European Parliament in December 2024, after strong pressure from United Nations disability experts and the European disability movement.
Maryland Expands AI Integration Across State Government
Maryland is moving beyond pilot projects and weaving AI into the day-to-day work of its employees. Fifty-nine state agencies are now using Google Workspace with Gemini, Google’s generative AI platform, as of Wednesday. The integration via Google Public Sector provides nearly 43,000 state employees with access to Gemini’s AI tools, and 12,500 active users are already testing its capabilities in their daily tasks.
