‘We Work, We Travel, We Have Families’: The Americans with Disabilities Act Continues to Transform Communities
July 26 marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a landmark civil rights law that reshaped life in the United States by prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities. Passed with strong bipartisan support and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush in 1990. Since then, the ADA has opened countless doors and continues to push society toward greater accessibility and inclusion.
European Semester 2025: Clear Message to EU Countries on Disability Rights
This year, more than ever before, disability was at the forefront of the issues the European Commission is urging EU countries to improve in its Spring Package publication, a part of the European Semester process.
Why Accessible Packaging is the Next Brand Differentiator
Walk into any supermarket, pharmacy, or high street shop, and it becomes clear that packaging is everywhere. From toothpaste tubes to ready meals, shampoo bottles to seasoning jars, the average consumer interacts with dozens of packages a day. But for a significant portion of the population, these everyday objects are anything but simple. Whether due to visual impairment, arthritis, low literacy, or simply getting older, packaging can pose real barriers.
Meta to Spend Hundreds of Billions to Build AI Data Centres
Meta’s founder Mark Zuckerberg has said the social media giant will spend hundreds of billions of dollars on building huge AI data centres in the US. The first multi-gigawatt data centre, called Prometheus, is expected to come online in 2026, Zuckerberg said.

People who are deaf or hard of hearing face unique barriers in accessing streamed content. Captions are not always available, and when they are, they are often incomplete or of poor quality, thus impacting the viewing experience.

If you haven’t encountered ARIA before, great! It’s a chance to learn something new and exciting. If you have heard of ARIA before, this might help you better understand it or maybe even teach you something new!
Air Travel Accessibility Report Could Lead to ‘Tangible’ Improvements, But Progress Depends on Industry
The Aviation Accessibility Task and Finish Group (AATFG) was set up last autumn by the Department for Transport (DfT) and is chaired by a crossbench peer with disability, Baroness [Tanni] Grey-Thompson. It produced its report yesterday (Wednesday) with 19 recommendations for improvements across the industry, and the group will continue to monitor how they are implemented, with annual reports to DfT.
