Top 10 PDF Remediation Tools for Municipal Governments in 2025

If you work in a municipal government office, chances are you’re dealing with a lot of PDFs. In fact, over 90% of official forms and communications from government agencies are shared in PDF format (EDUCAUSE, 2024). But here’s the catch: many of those PDFs aren’t accessible to everyone, especially people using screen readers or assistive technologies. That’s where remediation tools come in.

How to Solve PDF Accessibility Challenges in Universities?

PDFs are used everywhere in universities, from course materials to research papers. However, many of these files are inaccessible to students with disabilities. Missing tags, poor formatting, and unreadable scanned documents make it hard for screen readers to interpret the content. PDF Accessibility Challenges in Universities can affect student learning and may even lead to compliance issues.

European Accessibility Act Poses New Challenges for US Companies with Customers in the EU

U.S. businesses that provide consumer-facing websites and mobile apps to customers in the European Union should take note that the European Accessibility Act (“EAA”) took effect on June 28, 2025.  The EAA also applies to some consumer technologies such as hardware systems and operating systems, self-service equipment, and e-readers.

The Nicosia Declaration was officially signed by AAATE, EDF, IAAP EU, Teach Access, JKU, EUC and other partners during the AAATE conference on 11 September in Nicosia, Cyprus. Why Digital Accessibility Has Become a Crucial Differentiator in the Financial Sector

We are now living in an “always-on” era. Constantly connected, we expect key services to be available 24/7. For financial service providers, this has heightened the pressure to develop digital assets – mobile apps, websites and online platforms – that can quickly satisfy customer needs. In the UK, for instance, it’s now the case that 40% of the adult population have digital-only bank accounts.

True Disability Inclusion Requires Planning for the Unexpected

When we talk about accessibility, people often focus on the thing: the ramp, the captioning, the hearing device, the accessible stall, the screen reader. But physical accessibility is only about the presence of a tool. It’s about what happens when that tool breaks. Or isn’t set up. Or is unfamiliar to the person temporarily in charge. That’s where disability inclusion either succeeds or spectacularly fails.

How Much Should You Spend on Accessibility?

In a business environment increasingly shaped by regulation, risk, and reputation, the question “How much should you spend on digital accessibility?” is more than a budgeting decision—it’s a strategic one. As organizations allocate growing portions of their revenue to compliance activities, digital accessibility is emerging not only as a legal requirement but also as a vital pillar of inclusive, ethical, and sustainable business practices.

European Accessibility Act vs. WCAG: Key Differences and Overlap

Across the European Union, the drive for inclusive digital experiences has become more urgent than ever. With the rise of public services and commercial platforms moving online, the importance of ensuring equal access for individuals with disabilities has grown exponentially. At the heart of this shift are efforts like the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which underscores the region’s commitment to universal usability and equitable access to digital content.

EPUB Accessibility – EU Accessibility Act Mapping

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is an EU directive that establishes accessibility requirements for different types of products and services. It aims to strengthen the rights of people with disabilities by providing access to products and services, including e-books, dedicated e-reading devices and software, digital rights management software, and e-commerce.
